Freight damage - We all know freight damage happens. Here is a run-down on how to
deal with it::
When receiving a shipment, look for any obvious damage. If
there is a question as to a piece being damaged, open and inspect the unit on-site.
If there is apparent damage, refuse the piece. If there is no apparent damage, you
should note the bad box on the freight bill and sign it. A claim can be filed later
if the product turns out to be damaged.
After you have received product,
if damage is noted, you must file a concealed damage claim with the trucking company.
You have fifteen days to file for concealed damage, so open and inspect cartons as
quickly as possible. Even if you are holding a product for a later delivery date,
you must file concealed damage within fifteen days. Brown-Rogers-Dixson will work
with you on freight damage. However, ultimately the issue is between the dealer and
the freight company.
